TORONTO, ON –
The Artist Project returns to Toronto
from April 21-24, 2022 to showcase the work of 200 independent Canadian artists under one roof.
Located in the Queen Elizabeth Building on the Fairgrounds , the annual art fair invites visitors to meet artists, learn directly from them and discover the history of their work, providing an opportunity to support the next generation of Canadian culture. With the participation of curators, galleries, designers, experienced collectors and first-time art buyers, the artist's project creates a commercial experience that invites the public to discover talent. Events will include interactive installations, a competition for budding artists and, for the first time, a live fashion show featuring local designers in association with
Fashion Art Toronto .
“The industry helps us to orient ourselves, to understand our activities as global citizens. After all, it's a reflection of our human experience,” says Emma Fried , the show's Exhibition Relations Manager. "Our goal is to provide a professional platform to showcase unique contemporary artists and showcase and sell their work through unique physical venues and installations."
entry point
This year, project artist
Nathan Eugene Carson was chosen to create an installation featuring a 40-foot hanging art gallery at the entrance. The art form will change as patrons can purchase Carson's art directly from the institution, while new work is added, creating a dynamic experience for all who walk through the door. Orsario-based Canadian artist Carson Hamilton, who paints on paper, is populated by color-coded animals, often painted in colors. Inspired by the life he grew up in and transformed into, Carson turned his personal observations into visual sensations.
